McNeese Equestrian

McNeese Equestrian was founded in 2018 and started with just 2 members. Over the years the team has seen member numbers as high as 15 for one season. The team travels over Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi competing against schools such as LSU, Texas State, UT Austin, Sam Houston, UL Lafayette, Texas A&M, Tulane, Trinity, and Schreiner. Although a generally much smaller team than some of its competitors, riders with McNeese Equestrian consistently qualify for Regional and Zone competitions each season.

McNeese Equestrian operates as a club through the university under the national organization Intercollegiate Horse Show Association. Riders compete on horses they have not ridden before, provided by the host school, and are given no warmup time. This tests riders’ abilities to adapt quickly and effectively to the horse underneath them.

If you are interested in joining McNeese Equestrian, we accept new members each fall, and occasionally in the spring. Riders must be a full-time undergraduate McNeese student. Horses are provided, and it is not required to own.
